S&P Capital IQ, a McGraw Hill company, is looking for a Database Engineer in New York, NY. The post states, “As a Senior Database Engineer, you will also be expected to write high-quality code yourself — all Capital IQ engineers write code! You will be responsible for creating and extending data models, developing ETL and data calculation processes, and doing advanced performance analysis and tuning on high-load, data-intensive routines. Senior Database Engineers also provide production support for Capital IQ’s multi-terabyte back-end systems to ensure high availability and scalability.”
Qualifications for the position include: “5+ years of experience as a database or software engineer. 5-7 years experience with data analysis/ingestion projects are a must – within finance and/or in a leadership position is definitely a plus. Advanced SQL programming skills. Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies. Capacity to work within complex systems and large data sets. Proficiency with one or more of the following technologies: Object Oriented languages. Scripting (Bash, Python, Perl, Powershell). Database systems (SQL, Oracle, MySQL, Vertica, Solr). Process and automation design. SQL relational & dimensional data modeling. Big Data Analytics (Hadoop, NoSQL, Cloud Computing).”
