WalmartLabs is looking for a DevOps Engineer in San Bruno, CA. The post states, “Mobile devops team is all about frameworks that operate in a high-scale, distributed, multi-tenancy environment. Engineers in this team will begin their engagement by understanding components that make up the mobile.com, one of the highest trafficked and transactional mobile eCommerce web sites in the world. Within the next year a variety of new technologies will be used including, dtrace, poppet, data Analytics, NoSql, Big Data, Logging, Monitoring, Diagnostics, Security and several other frameworks.”
Qualifications include the following: “Solid knowledge of Unix systems (we are running Solaris and RedHat; plan on moving to smartOS) we are not looking for system administrator, we are looking for person able to trouble shoot issues in complex, multi tier architectures, has understanding of operating systems, networks, automation and knows how to use troubleshooting tools like (ping, , telnet, netstat, vmstat, iostat, sar, truss, pstack, find, egrep, awkd, sed, regex, etc) traceroute is great plus. Scripting is a must – solid knowledge of bash and perl or python or alike. Familiarity with data transfer protocols – http(s), REST, SOAP, JASON. Familiarity with java – at minimum the person should be familiar with tools in java/bin e.g. java, jps, jstat and be able to read and understand java exception stack trace, indentify packages at fault, reading heap dump and stack dump (kill -3) ability to do some java development is a great plus, willingness and ability to learn when needed is required.”
