Red Hat is looking for a Performance and Scaling Lead in Mountain View, CA. The post states, “Big Data systems/applications rarely exist in a vacuum making it essential to integrate these systems with traditional relational databases (systems of record, business processing applications, EDWs, etc). Red Hat is looking for a solid engineer to lead the database integration are for our new Big Data initiative. This engineer will help define and implement the Big Data and database integration strategy. Given the diversity of emerging storage and data base technologies (relational and non-relational) – how should the pieces fit together? How should scalable, high performance applications be built? Which technologies should customers use? Which technologies need to be invented to address gaps? We are looking for a strong engineer to help define the answer these and many other questions as part of the Red Hat Big Data team.”
Qualifications for the position include: “5+ years of experience as successful Software Engineer, Developer, Programmer, or related field; at least one significant project delivered to the market successfully. 2+ years experience working with relational data bases; especially multi-application database integration and data integration tools. Proficiency in Linux, common Linux developer tools and languages (esp: Java, C++), web development languages and tools (esp: HTML4). Proficient with MySQL, Oracle, or other RDBMs. Substantial working experience with emerging tools for data integration (esp: Flume, Sqoop and other similar tools). Open Source development (governance, development and build tools, and other processes – especially around Apache, Hadoop and related projects). Demonstrated understanding of data integration tools, processes and best practices.”
