Shutterfly is looking for a Senior Platform Engineer in Redwood City, CA. According to the post, “Shutterfly Platform Engineering is seeking to add a key contributor to the architecture and platform infrastructure team who will be instrumental in the design and development of several initiatives core to the Shutterfly SSP. The ideal candidate will be an expert at designing, implementing, performance-tuning and troubleshooting enterprise-wide systems and be able to “walk the stack” from business requirements to JVM and DB internals. Candidates who have worked for high volume, high 9s e-commerce companies and/or software infrastructure companies are highly preferred.”
Qualifications for the position include the following: “Hands-on participation in leading design and development of highly scalable and available online presences and/or infrastructure software. Strong understanding of Java concurrency, multi-threaded programming and java.util.concurrent.* package. Strong understanding of Java collections framework and experience with scalable data-structures and associated algorithms including sorting, hashing, data partitioning/sharding etc. Strong working knowledge and experience with data-access of persisted entities in RDBMS, no-SQL movement (e.g. MongoDB, Cassandra) and big data solutions such as map reduce (Apache Hadoop Ecosystem). Strong knowledge of caching and distributed object data-stores (such as MemcacheD, Terracotta-Ehcache, Oracle-Coherence etc.) desirable.”
