Marty Loughlin, Vice President of Financial Services at Cambridge Semantics recently wrote, “Cambridge Semantics was a gold sponsor of DATAVERSITY’ S Data Governance Financial Services (DGFS) conference in Jersey City last week where some of the world’s premier financial institutions and industry thought leaders gathered to discuss data governance trends, challenges and successes. A key theme at the conference was the role that compliance and regulatory reporting are playing in driving funding for data governance programs and how to use this opportunity to deliver value for the business. Data Governance done right can also drive operational efficiency and create new revenue opportunities.”

Loughlin shared some of his favorite insights from the conference: “Citi CDO, Subramanian Ramakrishnan, spoke about the challenges of regulatory reporting. Today, we create custom infrastructure siloes for each new requirement designed to produce the required reports. The overlap between these siloes is very high. He envisions a world where, instead of submitting reports, we will have a repository of enterprise data, described by semantic models and accessible by tools that will allow the regulators to ask and answer any question they want.”
