Irrespective of the industry or company size, Big Data is playing a crucial role for business decision makers. Although many businesses have adopted Big Data Analytics as a critical component of their market analytics practices and customer experience enhancement, there are many other applications that are still unnoticed by many. Some of the uses of Big Data analytics include: employee management, productivity improvement, improving employee retention rates, crafting the right training programs, strategizing, sales automation, and efficient management.

Today, many business organizations are investing in Big Data tools to help them gather, store and analyze voluminous data sets and make better decisions. With falling costs and growing sophistication of the tools of data analysis, businesses today are able to unlock even complex databases to spot the latest trends and useful patterns more rapidly and accurately.  Such Data Analytics tools also allow you to enjoy the benefits of superior insights that can improve efficiency, customer relationships and business strategies, and assist businesses to identify and fix potential issues more easily.

One area in which Big Data is playing a vital role is in corporate training.  Data can be used to improve employee performance, development and in crafting the right training programs.  It can also be used to encourage employees, engage them and help improve their productivity.

#1 Tracking the Right Metrics

Before you develop a corporate training program in Big Data for your employees, you need to collect the relevant data about them. By using Big Data Analytics, you can learn a lot about your staff. You can monitor how they are performing, and keep a track of what skills need to be developed.

By setting up an employee tracking system, you can develop better relationships with your employees and empower them to work within the confines of your system.  Developing such a robust tracking system takes a lot of time and effort in the beginning. However, once you have set it up successfully, you can reap several benefits for your business.  For example, you can evaluate employee interactions, activities, and how they communicate with employees of other departments in the company.

When choosing the metrics that you want to monitor and track, it is important to make an effort to understand what encourages your employees and what limits them.

#2 Motivating and Engaging Employees

When you set up an employee tracking system, and make it known to your workforce that you’re tracking their performance data and then sharing that collected data with your employees will create a positive environment, which eventually results in several benefits in the workplace.

Based on the performance metrics of your employees, you can organize a reward system for them.  You can use metrics to figure out the best performers and appreciate them for their achievements. By doing this, employees will try to give their best, because they know they can be rewarded when they perform well.

#3 Personalizing the Learning Experience

Once you have set up a data collection system in your business, you can design a training curriculum that is more personalized and caters to the needs of an individual. Analyzing Big Data allows HR managers to monitor the strengths and weaknesses of their workforce.  By identifying certain areas, you can design a training program to develop new skills and improve the existing skills. Always remember that taking a “one size fits all” approach when crafting a training program won’t always be effective.

Conclusion

Modern businesses are leveraging the power of Big Data to gain meaningful business insights. Analytical methods can also be incorporated to encourage, inspire and train employees to improve their performance and level of output.
