About the Discussion

Big Data is clearly a big deal. It’s a topic on the corporate agenda of most large organization – and not just for CIOs, but for CEOs, venture capitalists, CFOs, treasurers, risk managers and marketing VPs. Everyone wants more data so they can to out-analyze the competition, and it’s your job to deliver it.

Yet one of the most talked-about challenges is the dearth of qualified analysts and technicians to do the jobs that organizations need to fill. This means that for data geeks, big data may be the biggest opportunity of your professional lifetime.

This Keynote panel will delve into the facts and fantasies of Big Data, to understand why it’s such a hot topic right now, and how long the sizzle will last. You’ll learn about the changes that are coming to enterprise data management, and the new skills you should acquire to ride this wave of opportunity that is Big Data.

Discussion points include:

      • Can we at least agree on what Big Data is?
      • How big will Big Data get?
      • What does the CEO think about it?
      • What can you do to future-proof your career in a Big Data era?
      • What are the key new technologies to get educated about?
      • Will Little Data technologies become obsolete?
      • Big Data in Your Enterprise:

- Is big data governable? – What happens to ETL now that we have Hadoop? – How are big data analytics different from what you know now? – Do data warehouses go away? – Can big (and cloudy) data squeeze into relational databases? Should it? – How is big data modeled? – How is it integrated?
