May has proven to be a very busy month! The month started off with Enterprise Data World (EDW) 2012 in Atlanta, Georgia. It was such a great event. One of the most common things I heard throughout the week was how much people love the community at EDW. It’s such a great place to network, and the relief on people’s faces is just amazing when they learn they aren’t the only one struggling with a particular issue. It was great to see people I’ve met before, and it was so nice to meet so many whom I have only conversed with via email or on the phone. I also met so many new people! So much to follow-up from all the great conversations and new collaborations! Very exciting things coming!
We also brought along one of our writers, Paul Williams, to help cover the event. Take a read through his overview of the conference and look for more articles to come include a “Trends in…” series based on all the latest & greatest revealed at the conference. Also look for more videos and presentations to be posted throughout the year.
One of the best moments for me at the conference was when a very large group of DATAVERSITY contributors descended upon the DATAVERSITY booth to show off their content to each other. Great conversations and collaborations emerged from that convergence, and is starting to shine through in blogs, articles, and webinar presentations. I encourage you to join the conversations and add comments to their blogs especially!
We also added a new webinar series that started May 24th: Big Challenges in Data Modeling. It’s a monthly panel discussion on Data Modeling moderated by Graeme Simsion with guest panelists each month. We had a great turnout for the first webinar and really look forward to upcoming months!
Now we’re getting ready for the Data Governance & Information Quality 2012 Conference in San Diego, California June 25 – June 28th. Sunil Soares is giving one of the keynotes at the conference. He’s a connection I made at EDW and he will be writing for DATAVERSITY, so keep an eye out for his upcoming blogs. Bob Seiner and David Loshin, two other DATAVERSITY contributors, are featured speakers at the event. We hope to see you there!
