Standard & Poor’s is looking for a Director of Data Science in New York, NY. According to the post, “S&P Capital IQ is searching for a Director, Data Science to help grow Capital IQ, a leading provider of data and analytics for global financial professionals. As a member of the Capital IQ Technology team, you will work with intelligent and ambitious engineers and analysts recruited from top universities and companies. You’ll develop and enhance our flagship Capital IQ Platform, which includes cutting-edge web and client applications, web services, and data feeds. As the lead of the Capital IQ Data Science team, you’ll constantly ask yourself and your team the most challenging questions about our data – and then answer them.”
Qualifications include: “Strong interest and proven experience in data analysis with complex systems and large data sets 5+ years experience leading teams of research scientists and/or engineers. Recent hands-on software programming and data engineering experience. Ability to quickly adapt to new technologies, tools, and techniques. Creativity, curiosity, humility, and strong communication skills (written and verbal). Database and data systems (SQL, Oracle, MySQL, Vertica, Solr). Big data analytics (Hadoop, Pig, Hive, NoSQL, cloud computing). Machine learning: supervised/unsupervised, feature extraction, model selection and evaluation, moving ML to production; data mining; text analytics; natural language processing.”
