Barnes & Noble is searching for a Director of Database Engineering and Administration in New York, NY. Responsibilities of the position include: “Work with database administration and engineering team to achieve strategic technology initiatives and systems integration. Provide guidance to executive management on software and hardware design and budgeting decisions for database systems and implementation. Establish, maintain and communicate standards, guidelines and data architecture practices and assess platforms/software for new systems. Lead reviews and quality assurance processes assessing data architectures and standards for databases, data marts and data warehouses.”
Qualifications for the position include the following: “Position requires a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Engineering or a related technical field and seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience as a Database Administrator, Database Analyst, Database Architect or a related position. Position also requires experience with database technology in the areas of MPP and NoSQL for high scalability and redundancy. Position requires experience managing and delivering database solutions for organization with high volume mobile usage.”
