Hortonworks is looking for an HBase Software Engineer in Sunnyvale, CA. The post states, “The Apache HBase project is one of the most popular NoSQL technologies. We are actively looking for software engineers to contribute to this space of the Hadoop ecosystem.” Qualifications for the position include: “Experience with system software design and development with strong understanding of distributed & large scale systems. Hands on programmer, strong in data structures and programming practices (strong concurrent programming skills, and, able to think ‘at scale’). Experience building systems with the characteristics of low/predictable-latency serving desirable.”
Further qualifications include: “Java experience desirable. Knowledge about Hadoop, HBase, Zookeeper and the rest of the Hadoop ecosystem is a big plus. Experience as Open Source contributor desirable (include pointers to those please). Ability to work in an agile and collaborative setup within an engineering team. Strong oral and written communication skills. Over 3 years experience in systems software. A bachelors degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.”
