BAE Systems is searching for a Senior Database Design Engineer in Chantilly, VA. The post states that this position “Designs, models, documents, and guides the logical and conceptual relationship of data and database changes for complex applications. Analyzes needs and requirements of existing and proposed systems, and develops technical, structural, and organizational specifications. May create standards and/or do modeling to monitor and enhance capacity and performance.”
Qualifications for the position include: “Advanced, Senior, or 7+ years experience including: design using NOSQL database technology including XML, text/indexing; experience interfacing or designing with Hadoop, HBASE, and/or map/reduce; experience with XML; use of Lucene for data indexing. Java programming. Logical and Physical data modeling Knowledge of SQL and relational database design. Design of clustered or distributed database solutions Performing ETL using custom scripts, code, COTS tools, or open source tools (especially Pentaho). Design and analysis of database performance Design team leadership. Experience with Agile design techniques. Experience with text extraction and search. Experience with entity extraction.”
