PayPal is looking for a Senior Manager of R&D Data Engineering in San Jose, CA. The post states, ” We are looking for a leader with vision to jumpstart PayPal’s foray into Big Data and cutting edge Behavioral Analytics. You will build a world-class team and lead them to: Be thought leaders and evangelists of modern data analytical techniques. Work along-side the Data Science, Risk Detection and Marketing analytical teams directly to manage roadmaps. Help analytical teams push the boundaries of how to use information retrieval, machine learning, computational linguistics, matrix and graph algorithms, unsupervised clustering & data mining to solve their business problems. Envision the architecture of a Big Data platform spanning both analytical & operational use cases. Collect new data from various sources like MySQL, Oracle, Teradata, web server logs, and NoSQL databases throughout the firm.”
Qualifications include the following: “Experience leading cross-functional teams. Demonstrate analytical and problem solving skills, particularly those that apply to a Big Data environment. Ability to contribute to multiple projects/demands simultaneously. Have experience developing and presenting plans and roadmaps to senior management. Have experience successfully executing plans and roadmaps. Be extremely knowledgeable of industry standards and trends. Deep understanding and related experience with Hadoop internals, Hive, Pig, Hbase and Map/Reduce.”
