Yahoo! is looking for a Senior Software Engineer in the Office of the CTO in Sunnyvale, CA. Responsibilities of the position include the following: “Work closely with Yahoo!’s technical leadership to architect and design cutting-edge distributed systems serving high-volume web and mobile products. Contribute hands-on in developing and nurturing new systems and platforms as part of a virtual team charged to solve complex and long-term technical issues. Stay abreast of innovative technologies such as cloud computing and NoSQL stores to shape how these influence next generation applications on a large scale. Evaluate and apply both open-source and commercial technologies.”
Qualifications for the position include, “5-7+ years as an engineer, building high-scale, distributed systems in a *nix environment. 2+ of technical leadership, including responsibility for backend design and architecture. Experience designing and deploying horizontally-scalable architecture that leverages NoSQL. RDBMS based backing stores. Proficiency in at least one of Java, C++ and at least one of Perl, PHP. Demonstrated passion for quality, usability and efficiency. Outstanding communication and team skills.”
