Amazon.com is looking for a Software Development Manager for a high TPS Tier-1 NoSQL Platform in Seattle, WA. The post states, “Our team has been building a highly scalable, low latency, reliable, fast, and inexpensive data storage with an inbuilt computing environment that powers our website and web services. Our engineers are customer-focused, strong performance analysts, Linux systems-savvy and good API designers. These skills help us define the bleeding edge for elegant, super-scalable services at Amazon.com. A successful candidate will be able to hire and develop strong technical talent, interface with a large customer base to understand their needs and priorities, and communicate to upper management on a tactical and strategic level. Our ideal candidate is a self-directed leader with proven software development experience.”

Qualifications for the position include the following: “Substantive hands-on experience building innovative, complex software, ideally but not necessarily software development systems. BS in Computer Science or similar discipline. Strong technical credentials, with at least 5 years leading or managing software development teams, ideally with some hands-on architectural or distributed systems experience. A record of great hiring of technical team members and leaders. Operational support and passion, with experience in establishing, measuring, and meeting service level agreements, improving the availability, performance, and quality of systems. Client/Server development. Transactional Berkeley DBs. Publish/subscribe or other event messaging technologies. Experience dealing with a varied set of customers across the world would be a plus.”
