This presentation was given Thursday, August 25, 2011 at the NoSQL Now! 2011 Conference in San Jose, California
About the Presentation
Dave Grijalva, lead engineer & architect, ngmoco:), will discuss the challenges and considerations associated with selecting the right NoSQL solution for technical projects. The session will cover what items need to be considered, how to approach the implementation, and how to pick the best NoSQL technology for the project.Grijalva will do a deep dive into how to look at features, what requirements to consider, and why attendees should predict the amount of traffic the project needs. He’ll also discuss the need to break down read/write and deletion volumes in operations and why you need to consider structured/unstructured data and how often the schema changes.
The session will include a look at the NoSQL technologies ngmoco:) is using, such as MarkLogic, Cassandra, and HBase and Redis, and how the company decided on those technologies.
- How to break down the requirements of a NoSQL project
- Considerations that need to be made when selecting a NoSQL technology
- How to decide what technology is the best fit
- Real-world examples of how ngmoco:) decided on the NoSQL technologies (MarkLogic, Cassandra, HBase and Redis) the company is implementing
