hboHBO, a Time Warner company, is looking for an Ontologist in New York, NY. The post states, “HBO, NY is seeking an Ontology Engineer to provide primary support for the HBO Metadata Initiative metadata registry implementation.  The Ontology Engineer will report to the Director, Media Management and Taxonomy within the Media Technology Operations group, and be responsible for the maintenance and expansion of the corporate data model with the goal of company-wide semantic interoperability.  The position will serve as a domain expert within the company, championing data as a strategic business asset and influencing information and digital strategy.”

Qualifications for the position include: “Advanced degree in Library Science, Data/Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent information management experience). Experience with Informatica Master Data Management (MDM), Metadata Management, and Data Quality modules, or similar tool(s). Experience in the development of taxonomies, formal ontologies (OWL), thesauri and other types of controlled vocabularies. Experience in logical, physical and dimensional data modeling. Experience in creating and implementing metadata schemas and models. Experience with data management standards, tools and technologies (e.g. XML, XSLT, RDF, etc.) Familiarity with database design, warehousing, ETL, RDBMS, SQL, noSQL, big data, data management vendor solutions, and business intelligence strategies.”
