Nuance is looking for a Senior NLP Research Engineer in Burlington, MA. According to the post, the company is looking for a "Computer scientist in the Healthcare Research organization working on a state of the art clinical language understanding system for CAC (computer assisted coding). Major duty is to help develop rule-based systems using in-production (feedback) data, and research automatic rule learning methods. The research will focus on creating a state of the art rule-based system for Computer Assisted Coding. This includes tuning rules, which apply in multiple phases, based on new data, and evaluating performance on multiple data sets. There will be a need to debug multiple interacting components and phases of rule application. There will also be research into automatic rule discovery and learning from labeled and weakly labeled data both during system development and in production, based on user feedback."
Qualifications for the position include: "Minimum of 3 years experience (including graduate school) statistically analyzing patterns in data, running experiments, and doing error analysis. Organized, self-motivated, disciplined and detail oriented. Experience working with rules engines or semantic web is required, such as OWL Protégé, Pellet, SPARQL, RDF, etc. Software development experience in JAVA is required. Programming experience in either Python or PERL is required. Bash/Unix scripting skills are required. Experience in using Ontologies or any other knowledge base is a definite PLUS. Experience in medical text analytics and/or clinical information retrieval is a definite PLUS."
