Pearson is looking for a Taxonomy and Metadata Manager in New York, NY. The post states, "The Taxonomy and Metadata Manager will report to the VP of Learning Architecture and will provide essential leadership to develop and implement strategies, standards, and guidelines relating to the creation and improvement of content-related taxonomies and controlled vocabularies and will work closely with HE product/platform, NextGen, and data architecture teams to ensure that locally applied taxonomies and CV’s are enterprise aware and interoperable. This role will contribute significantly to the pan-Pearson goal to deliver efficacy metrics around educational content and services."
Qualifications for the position include: "3-5 years of experience in a role related to education technology, preferably involving taxonomy/ontology management and development of metadata schemas. Familiarity with metadata schemas most relevant in the ed tech space. Ideally, some experience in publishing or academia, preferably in Content Architecture. A clear understanding of the importance of markup languages in achieving interoperability via standards. Some familiarity with query languages such as SPARQL, SQL and Xquery, along with RDF data modeling (and knowledge representation languages such as OWL). Strong ability to build credibility with leaders and drive initiatives across the organization."
