Philips is looking for an Informatics Clinical Research Scientist in Chicago, IL. According to the post, this position's goal is "To support our clinical research activities we are looking for an Informatics Clinical Research Scientist to bridge the gap between the clinical and Research stakeholders at a clinical site, and the research and prototyping back office within Philips. This person should be capable of building an effective collaboration with both clinical and IT staff. Duties will include oversight of the installation of clinical prototypes on site, connection with the hospital IT systems, configuration to the local clinical needs, support in evaluation of prototypes and solving of on-site problems. The focus with be partially on algorithm/methodology research with more emphasis on hands-on work in adapting, configuring and evaluating clinical prototypes."
Qualifications for the position include: "Research experience in the design, development, and evaluation of clinical decision support applications for biomedicine. Experience in employing information retrieval and extraction, natural language processing, machine learning, and knowledge management methods within clinical systems. Expertise in the use of controlled clinical terminologies and ontologies (UMLS, SNOMED, ICD, etc). Software engineering experience in a clinically oriented research environment, including programming experience with Java, Matlab, C/C++/C# and/or the .Net framework. Experience with semantic technologies, such as OWL, RDF, SPARQL, reasoners/classifiers. Knowledge of the principles of medical image acquisition and processing."
