Syapse is looking for a Semantic Server Engineer in Palo Alto, CA. The post states, "We are looking for an experienced developer to contribute to our server-side semantic data stack. If you are interested in the semantic web stack (RDF, OWL, SPARQL) but have always felt that biotech and healthcare were the best application for these new technologies, then come and help us upend data management in that industry. You will be working with a mix of open-source and proprietary software, to build out the back end for our data platform suite. Areas of emphasis range from dynamic customization of ontologies and forms, to audit trail implementation, to faceted browse optimization, to integration with large-scale structured data. Server-side components will include a mix of open-source tools and our own implementations of various components."
Qualifications for the position include: "Role can be adjusted for a range of experience levels. Advanced degree in CS or related field preferred. At a minimum, three years experience working with structured semantic data or related domain (search, etc.) is required. Ability to work with Python (our server-side language of choice) and Java (language of most relevant open-source components). Experience with semantic data tools a plus, e.g. RDF store, SPARQL endpoint. Knowledge of big data tools (e.g. Hadoop) a plus. Ability to work independently, collaborate closely, and bring other engineers up to speed on your work rapidly and thoroughly."
