Thermopylae is looking for a Database Software Developer in Arlington, VA. According to the post, “The software developer will work on an agile team that leverages scrum, lean imperative, and other adaptive software development styles.  The focus will be on Software development in Java and C++ to implement an X-Tree index focusing on geospatial data in the Cloudbase data store. Geospatial Integration: Application development and R&D to enhance how the geospatial data is managed. Data services software: Services to optimize data regionally by moving it to the data centers that are predicted to need it (information about the Korean swim team staged on a Korean data center, etc).”

Qualifications for the position include the following: “All applicants for this position must possess a current Top Secret/SCI security clearance in order to be considered for employment. The ideal candidate will have a broad background in information technology, database design theory, indexing, and Geospatial data management. The candidate must be able to work in an environment where flexibility and technical problem solving skills are required. The candidate should be skilled with C++, Java, database development, data indexing concepts, and working in a cleared environment.  5-10 years minimum experience with the above skills required. Linear Algebra, specialization in mathematics, trigonometry, OLS, hBase, Cloudbase, MongoDB Big Table, Jetty, Apache, Maven, PHP, AJAX, CometD, Dojo, Open Social, Map Reduce, Hadoop, GlassFish, Terracotta, Hyperic HQ, Metamatrix, GRRDL, XML, RDF, Ozone, SOAP, REST, OpenID, SPARQL, SWRL.”
