Manjeet Singh Sawhney recently laid out a sixteen step process for selecting an appropriate MDM tool for your business. He begins, “MDM requires involvement from both IT and the business. Therefore during the MDM tool selection activities and decisions both should be involved. The process involves defining the business and technical requirements and creating a selection matrix. In terms of the technical requirements the functional, non-functional and system integration requirements must be considered.”
He continues, “Overall, when selecting a MDM tool several aspects must be evaluated and considered such as the following: Business goals and vision; Usability of the MDM tool; Cost of the tool, development costs, time and effort involved to find and fix errors etc; Integration capabilities with the existing enterprise systems; Global data synchronisation across all geographically distributed enterprise systems; and others.”
