  • EVA Smith
    • Eva Smith is currently Director of Information Technology at Edmonds Community College (EdCC) where she oversees college IT functions and serves on the IT Commission for the Washington State Community and Technical College system. She has been an information management professional since 1989, in systems analysis, database design, programming and IT management roles. She earned a Master of Science in Information Management (MSIM) from the University of Washington iSchool and is a Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP). She is also an active member of DAMA International (DAMA-I), serving on the Editorial Board for the Data Management Body of Knowledge (DMBOK) Version 1, and as DAMA-I liaison to the Institute for Certification of Computing Professionals (ICCP). In 2009, Eva received the DAMA International Academic Achievement Award for her contributions to professional certification and academic programs in support of the profession.


  • Loretta Mahon Smith
    • Loretta Mahon Smith is a visionary and influential data management professional known for her consistent awareness of trends in the forefront of the industry.   After over 25 years as a data architect in the financial services industry, she moved into consulting.  Loretta is currently the IBM Global Business Services, Business Analytics & Optimization Lead for the Data Modeling Center of Excellence.  She earned Certified Computing Professional (CCP), Certified Business Intelligence Professional (CBIP), and Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) designations, achieving mastery level proficiency rating in Data Warehousing, Data Management and Data Quality.  An accomplished speaker, writer, and facilitator, Loretta is also active in the data management professional community.  A member DAMA International for more than 15 years, she is Past President of the DAMA-National Capital Region Chapter, and has served the world data management community by her involvement on the DAMA International Board as VP of Marketing and Communications.   She was named by Information Management Magazine as one of the 17 women in technology to follow on Twitter.  Additional information about Loretta is available through her LinkedIn profile http://www.linkedin.com/in/lorettamahonsmith .   • Peggy A Schlesinger
    • Peggy Schlesinger is a well-respected Master Enterprise Architect with Intel Corporation with a long history in Master Data Management.  She is currently working on the Semantic Definition for the enterprise to improve and accelerate Business Intelligence, and is moving the environment toward Self-Service Business Intelligence. She has been a strong influencer at Intel in the area of enterprise data management.  Peggy has a Master’s of Business Administration, with an emphasis in Management Information Systems from the University of New Mexico, is a certified Master IT Architect, and has worked in the industry for 29 years in the areas of database design, standards development, programmer, systems analysis, and data architecture, and database administration.  She is a firm believer in uniformity of nomenclature regardless of platform as an aid to agile data management.


About the Speaker

Karen Lopez is Sr. Project Manager and Architect at InfoAdvisors.. She has 20+ years of experience in project and data management on large, multi-project programs. Karen specializes in the practical application of data management principles. She is a frequent speaker, blogger and panelist on data quality, data governance, logical and physical modeling, data compliance, development methodologies and social issues in computing.  Karen is an active user on social media and has been named one of the top 3 technology influencers by IBM Canada and one of the top 17 women in information management by Information Management Magazine.  She is a Microsoft SQL Server MVP, specializing in data modeling and database design.  She’s an advisor to the DAMA, International Board and a member of the Advisory Board of Zachman, International.

She’s known for her slightly irreverent yet constructive opinions and rants on information technology topics.  She wants you to love your data. Karen is also moderator of the InfoAdvisors Discussion Groups at www.infoadvisors.com and dm-discuss.
