A recent press release states, “Informatica, the Enterprise Cloud Data Management leader accelerating data-driven digital transformation, today announced the seamless integration of Informatica Enterprise Information Catalog with Tableau, the global leader in visual analytics. This integration enables governed self-service analytics—critical for any organization that provides analytics via agile, self-service tools. Data governance and trustworthiness are mandates for mission-critical, enterprise analytical applications and this new offering provides trusted insights based on IT-certified data assets while moving from a siloed, departmental model to a scalable enterprise model. It also further enhances the collaboration between lines of business and the IT department.”
Ronen Schwartz, senior vice president and general manager of Data Integration, Big Data and Cloud at Informatica, commented, “Today, a large part of our work depends on data and there is fast growth in employees defining themselves as data users. People need to identify the data they need, understand its context, understand the data itself and see the data and answers to do their work. Doing this as instantly as the questions come up is a challenge… “The Informatica and Tableau solution addresses this challenge and truly democratizes data in a governed way.”
The release adds, “Informatica Enterprise Information Catalog uses machine learning-based algorithms to organize and catalog all data assets across the enterprise that can be certified by data stewards. All of these are immediately available via a simple, intelligent search bar, without having to ask or wait for IT to publish it.”
