May 2016 DATAVERSITY Letter from the Editor

By on

We are just returning from our first face-to-face event of the year, Enterprise Data World 2016 (EDW) held this year in San Diego.  It was a great event with over 1,000 attendees present. Always my favorite part of these events is meeting people I’ve been working with online throughout the year. I met so many webinar attendees in person this year.  And I met many new people as well all excited about the opportunities proper data management affords everyone. Our community is growing and it’s such a wonderful thing to experience.

At EDW we announced our latest addition to the DATAVERSITY education family. We have now officially launched our DATAVERSITY Training Center. We’ve started out with two simple Learning Plans, one on the Fundamentals of Data Governance and the other on Data Quality. And we are lining up a large roadmap of added Learning Plans to add to the catalog including topics such as: Data Stewardship, Metadata, Data Modeling, Enterprise Information Management, Cognitive Computing, Modeling NoSQL, and more. Each Learning Plan consists of several courses, and each course consists of a video tutorial and comprehensive exam. Pass the exam and the materials become available for download for reference in your daily work. Each course is available for individual sale, or you may buy all courses at once within the Learning Plan. Group and corporate licenses also available. Anyone may create a login for free and take a look around. We’re very excited about this next level of education and hope you are as well.

In addition, just shortly after we returned, we announced our second digital conference, Smart Data Online 2016 happening July 13, 2016. Registration opens May 9th. After feedback from our first online conference, Enterprise Data Governance Online, we dialed back the platform, decided to simply go with what we do best using our Webinar platform enabling clean, clear presentations with an opportunity to chat with each other. We are putting together a great agenda for the day including presentations on Cognitive Computing, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Artificial Intelligence, and Natural Language Processing. So save the date!

We hope you enjoy all the exciting things we’re building, and more than anything, we hope you find the education valuable. Feedback always welcome and wanted.
