DGIQ + EDW 2026: Program Highlights, Certifications, and Community Connections

The 2026 Data Governance & Information Quality (DGIQ) West + Enterprise Data World (EDW) conference brought together practitioners, leaders, and educators from across the data management landscape for a week focused on applied learning, professional growth, and community connection. Hosted by DATAVERSITY, the joint event continued the momentum created when these two longstanding conferences came together, blending data governance, architecture, quality, analytics, and AI governance into a single, tightly integrated program.

At the core of DGIQ + EDW 2026 was a program designed to support professionals at every stage of their data journey, from emerging practitioners building foundational skills to seasoned leaders refining enterprisescale strategies.

A Program Built for RealWorld Practice

The conference program spanned tutorials, conference sessions, handson workshops, and special interest discussions across multiple tracks, including data governance, data architecture, data quality, data strategy, and AI governance. Sessions emphasized applied experience, case studies, and practitioner perspectives, reinforcing the conference’s focus on what actually works inside organizations.

In addition to traditional sessions, the agenda intentionally created space for structured conversations and social learning opportunities, such as lunch roundtables and facilitated discussions, allowing attendees to compare challenges, approaches, and lessons learned in a peertopeer setting.

Applied AI and AI Governance Content

AI was woven throughout the DGIQ + EDW 2026 program, with sessions focused on practical application, governance alignment, and riskaware adoption. Rather than treating AI as a siloed topic, the program positioned it as an extension of existing data management disciplines, reinforcing the need for strong foundations and clear accountability.

AIfocused sessions and tutorials included:

  • Leveraging AI to Accelerate Data Governance
Explored how AI techniques can be leveraged to support governance.
  • Aligning Agentic AI Governance and Data Risk
Addressed emerging governance considerations for agentbased AI systems, with real-world case studies.
  • Old School, New School: A Guide to Successfully Bridging Generations of AI Users
Using real-world scenarios, this session surfaced assumptions that stall projects and provided some tips on moving forward with solutions and reducing friction.
  • Data Preparation for Analytics and AI
Focused on the foundational data management frameworks (CACTUS and FAIR) that enhance AI use in analytics.

Together, these sessions reinforced a recurring theme across the conference: Successful AI adoption depends as much on governance, quality, and culture as it does on technology.

Foundational Data Management: Governance and Data Quality

Core data management disciplines remained central to the DGIQ + EDW 2026 program, with extensive coverage of data governance and data quality as enduring enterprise capabilities rather than onetime initiatives. The agenda emphasized execution, operating models, and sustained adoption.

Representative sessions highlighting foundational practice included:

  • Building Modern Data Governance: Strategy, Platforms, and People Working Together
Addressed how governance programs evolve when aligned with organizational priorities and providing actionable tools, examples, and exercises.
  • Establishing an Accountable Data Governance Culture
A case study around the implementation of a framework that is moving the cultural needle for data governance.
  • Accelerating Data Governance with Change Management and Data Fluency
Showing how change management, data governance, and data fluency work together as a catalyst to spark real results at an organization.
  • AI Data Quality Lab
Walked participants through practical data quality techniques leveraging AI tools, emphasizing data profiling, data quality dimensions, and entity resolution (person matching).

These sessions underscored a consistent message across the event: Strong data governance and highquality data remain foundational, regardless of how technologies and analytics techniques evolve.

OnSite Certification Opportunities: ADGP and CDMP

A key highlight of DGIQ + EDW 2026 was the opportunity for attendees to earn professional certifications onsite, removing the need for separate travel or scheduling.

Applied Data Governance Practitioner (ADGP)

DGIQ + EDW 2026 hosted the Applied Data Governance Practitioner (ADGP) certification exam, a practitionerfocused credential designed to validate realworld governance execution skills. ADGP emphasizes applied practice over theory and is particularly relevant for data governance practitioners, stewards, and leaders responsible for operationalizing governance programs. The exam was offered during the conference under a “payifyoupass” model.

Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP)

The conference offered onsite testing for the Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) credential, recognized globally as a benchmark for professional knowledge in data management. CDMP exams are aligned to the DAMA Data Management Body of Knowledge (DMBoK) and support multiple certification levels, making them relevant for both IT and business professionals. Attendance at DGIQ + EDW also satisfied continuing education requirements for maintaining CDMP credentials.

Networking as a FirstClass Feature

Beyond formal learning, DGIQ + EDW 2026 placed strong emphasis on community and connection. Structured networking events, including themed networking hours and social roundtables, were built directly into the program, reinforcing the idea that some of the most valuable learning happens between sessions.

These opportunities created space for informal mentoring, idea exchange, and relationship building across roles, industries, and levels of experience, aligning with DATAVERSITY’s long-standing emphasis on communitydriven learning.

Below are just a few LinkedIn posts from attendees describing their experience at the event.

Closing Thoughts

DGIQ + EDW 2026 reinforced the value of combining practical education, professional certification, and intentional networking into a single conference experience. By anchoring its program in applied practice and community connection, the event continued to serve as a cornerstone for professionals working across data governance, information quality, and enterprise data management.
