Session 1: Harnessing Active Metadata, Lineage and Data Blueprints for Better Data Governance

How does your data really flow around your organization? Do you have transparency on its context, and on the people and processes it touches and impacts?

Underpinned by active metadata, Solidatus helps organizations create living, dynamic blueprints of their data. An understanding of data lineage is key before embarking on change, and for effective data governance and management. It provides the knowledge and context you need to make better quality decisions and operate more efficiently.

Sean Kelly

Technical Presales Consultant, Solidatus

With a BSc in computer science from the University of Birmingham in the UK, Sean Kelly is a key member of Solidatus’ solutions engineering team, which he joined early last year. In a career spanning more than 20 years, he has developed an extensive knowledge of business processes and the smart use of data, and has effectively deployed pre-sales, developer, analyst, implementer and project management skills in the delivery of successful IT software solutions for a range of clients across several industries.

Session 2: Unleash the Power of Metadata!

In the age of big data, even data assets generate (what else?) data. The secret? These metadata details offer powerful guidance that can help newcomers find, understand, and use those assets more powerfully and efficiently than their predecessors. Yet putting this into practice demands experience. Join Alation experts, to learn:

  • About the three types of metadata, and how they can inform smarter data usage
  • How enabling bi-directional flows of metadata across your modern data stack can empower more users with a heightened sense of the wider data landscape
  • Why data engineers are increasingly relying on metadata to build more reliable data pipelines and weave data fabrics

Michelle Donovan

Solutions Engineer, Alation

Michelle is a data analytics professional with experience as an analyst in Healthcare andTelecommunication in Australia, and working with financial crime, internal audit and regulatory compliance teams primarily within Banking & Insurance firms in UK, Europe and US to implement technology to transform reporting and analytics to support Data governance, Data management and Data Analytics initiatives.

Michelle is currently Sr Manager Sales Engineer at Alation, supporting the technical sales team.

Session 3: Navigating the Impact of Generative AI and ChatGPT on Metadata Management

Organizations are buzzing with talk of adopting generative AI, but with such momentous change comes numerous potential pitfalls. Rolled out with clear purpose, thoughtful planning, and risk mitigation, however, AI can unlock enormous organizational opportunity.

This session will address the concerns that organizations encounter when adopting generative AI and provide attendees with a comprehensive understanding of the AI landscape. We will also consider legal implications, deployment approaches, and strategies for mitigating concerns and ensuring responsible implementation.

Finally, we’ll look at some innovative applications of generative AI in data catalogs and show how these technologies are already increasing productivity for data stewards and analysts.
